Circus Parade

The circus is in town this weekend and they had a parade to start it all off. They had a lot of old cars and tigers, elephants, and camels. We thought Jacob would love it, he did enjoy looking at the animals but all of the loud nosies from the cars scared him. I have never seen him cling to us so hard. Overall the parade was short and sweet.

Just Having Fun!!

Easter

We had a great Easter, we traveled to Nebraska to spend some time with my family. It was nice to all be together again ( minus Jared who is in NY). We started the trip out sat am, we stopped to get gas and when Luke went to put the nozzle in the hole the hose fell off from the top and gas started spraying everywhere above Luke. He jumped into the car and drove off real fast, so all the way to Salina we drove with the windows down to help get the gas smell off of Luke. We then spent the evening at my aunts house where she made a ton of great food and desserts. The older I get the more I realize how much work goes into having family get togethers. Thanks moms!! Sun we got up and went to church and then had Easter lunch at my Grandmas, and off to see my other aunts new kitchen and had dessert. We ate way to much but it was great to be able to just spend time together.

YUMMY!!

So here are a few easy recipes that I have recently made....

Peanut Butter Frosting

Bake a chocolate cake...I just used the box

1 box powdered sugar
1/2 cup creamy (or nutty) peanut butter
1 stick butter or margarine
1/3 cup milk
1tsp vanilla

Melt the butter, milk, peanut butter and let come to boil (takes about
2mins)
Remove from heat, pour over the powdered sugar and mix well, add vanilla
beat til creamy and frost the cake when warm. Frosting will be a little
thick but
spreads nicely over warm cake.

Mexican Dip

2 C cheese, any kind
1 can refried beans
1 TBSP onions
2 C cooked cut up chicken
1 C salsa

I just mixed all together and put in crock pot

New Excitement

No big news here to report, I just thought I would post some new pics of Jacob. His latest thing is he loves to stand, stand and play, stand and look out the window, and stand and push his new easter toy around (thanks grandma :) ). Once he learned he can pull himself up onto the coffee table that holds all of his toys, thats all he wants to do, he will take out all of the toys that look interesting and put them on the floor, or just stand and play with them. He likes to walk up and down the coffee table, and he thinks he can walk, he gets brave sometimes and trys to turn around and grab the couch. He loves looking out the window, one reason is because his puppies are outside. He loves being outdoors already, he will cry when we come back inside. Grandma Lisa gave him a little walker for easter, and he is learning how to slowly take steps and push it at the same time. Sometimes he forgets to walk but he will have pushed the walker so he just stands there hanging on for dear life with a worried look on his face. It is so much fun watching him learn new things daily. He loves to clap and wave goodbye.

Just in the nick of time!

What a matter of a couple minutes can make.... Friday night my sis-in-law and I went out to eat and to do a little shopping, we went to Towne West and left there 8:45-8:50pm, and headed over to babies r us real fast. I remember the time because she thought they closed at 9 and I said no they close at 9:30. We ran into babies r us and did a little shopping, left there 9:15-9:20pm. Come to find out that at 9:20 a guy walked into the store and held them up at gunpoint and robbed them. We missed it by minutes maybe even seconds. God really was watching out for us, I would say that was one close call.

I remember hearing something on the radio a few years back that we should be thankful for the mules in our lives. Meaning when you get stuck behind a big truck on the highway or someone taking an extra long time in a line in front of you, that maybe God placed them there to protect you from something not so good that could happen.

Being Silly

In an effort to record life events, one of my goals this year is to take one picture a day, it doesnt have to be all of Jacob just random things that we do. Then I will journal with them and put them together in a scrapbook. I have posted a couple of the lastest pics of Jacob doing silly things around the house. Speaking of "being silly" Jacob just found a piece of dirt on the floor that was drug in from the dogs and of course stuck it in his mouth, when I looked over at him he just gave me a big muddy smile and I saw he had something in his mouth. I know this is only the beginning of him loving playing with dirt.

My new adventure

While Jacob and I are at home sick today, I decided I wanted to start a blog. So here it goes, I think this will be a great way to keep in touch with family and friends that dont get to see us on a daily basis. There prob wont be anything too profound, but I'm sure there will be a lot of Jacob stories and pictures. So stay tuned.....
